RE:Peeps,
As those who have followed me or know me know that my mother passed away last year. I was actually grateful as she suffered for several years and slowly died in a lot of pain. We never had the classic mother daughter relationship or a very good relationship, at all, most of the time. What we did have was a deeply rooted mutual respect for each other. Her legacy to me cannot be summed up in things but rather character traits, habits and life lessons. She taught me the love of books, the written word, manners, respect, kindness, decency and a deep devoted affection for nature. She taught me that these were things that, no matter what or who, could never be wrenched from me. All of that being said, she also had exquisite taste in her manner of dress, her decor and her entertaining. I know she is up there laughing that I dare admit this out loud. So as a year has passed and my father is coming to terms with the loss, he is finally going through her things. So, I have been the benefactor of some lovely things thus far. Right now, I am looking at two stunning handbags from the 60's, a Givenchy and a Judith Lieber. These along with other things to come will be RE:Purposed, not an a estate sale or consignment shop. They will be given new purpose on my arm as reminders of who taught me to appreciate them and, of course, she would approve.
If you get a moment remember someone today who would approve. Peace.
Lindsay
